Privacy and analytics

Updated October 29, 2026

Arcade Side B is an independent arcade-history research archive. Questions about this notice can be sent to dde.biz@gmail.com.

Optional Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, the pages readers use, and how people find the archive. The Analytics tag loads only after you choose “Allow analytics.” Choosing “No thanks” leaves Google Analytics off. Reading the archive does not require accepting analytics.

When enabled, Google Analytics can collect page views, interactions such as scrolling and outbound links, referral information, browser and device information, and approximate location. Google receives the network information needed to deliver the service. We do not intentionally send your name or email address to Analytics. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in our website tag.

Google Analytics uses first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_… to distinguish browsers and sessions. Browser settings and blockers may also prevent collection. These reports therefore do not count every visitor.

Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s privacy policy.

Your choice

The “Analytics settings” control at the bottom of each page lets you allow or decline analytics. We remember this choice in your browser’s local storage for up to 180 days. Withdrawing permission stops further collection by our tag and removes its accessible Analytics cookies; it does not erase data already received by Google. Clearing browser storage also clears your saved choice.

Hosting, images, and the public hit counter

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Hosting providers receive ordinary web requests. Some pages display externally hosted images or a public hit-counter image from hitscounter.dev; loading these resources contacts their providers, independently of your Google Analytics choice. The public hit counter is separate from Analytics and is not a reliable count of distinct people. External links lead to sites with their own privacy practices.

Contributions and correspondence

If you email research, corrections, or photographs, we receive what you choose to send and use it to review the contribution and respond. Contributions are reviewed before publication. Contact us to discuss attribution, anonymity, or a correction to information you supplied.
